A woman was raped by her cab driver in Brooklyn early Saturday morning, police said.

According to the NYPD the 29-year-old woman hailed a cab, a red minivan, around 3 a.m. in Kensington and took it to her apartment in Sunset Park. When the cab arrived at the woman's apartment, the driver took out a knife and demanded that the victim give him money.

After the victim handed over cash, the driver got into the back of the car and forcibly raped her before fleeing in an unknown direction. A NYPD spokesperson told Gothamist that the department does not know what car service, if any, the driver was affiliated with.

The victim reported the incident at the 68th Precinct station house.

Police described the driver as approximately 20 to 25 years old. The NYPD's Brooklyn Special Victims Unit is investigating the situation, and the investigation is ongoing.
