A Brooklyn rabbi has been arrested on child pornography charges after allegedly distributing illicit videos to undercover cops.
Kensington resident Samuel Waldman, 52, was arrested on Wednesday after prosecutors accused him of distributing pornographic videos involving children over the Internet; Waldman, who teaches part-time at a seminary for girls, allegedly sent three child pornography videos to undercover Homeland Security officers in November via a file-sharing program.
The videos allegedly involve young girls—ranging in age from four to 11—engaged in sexual acts with adult men; according to a criminal complaint filed in federal court, Waldman admitted to possessing child pornography on his computer, but has denied distributing them. "[It’s] false, specifically the way they are describing the distribution and dissemination,” he told the Post. “It’s absolutely being misconstrued completely, 100%, and we will fight that to the end.”
Waldman has been charged with one count of transporting or distributing child pornography, and has been released on a $100,000 bond, ordered to forgo unsupervised contact with children and employment with access to children. He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
