The body of a Brooklyn man who has been missing since last week was found in the trunk of a car in Long Island on Friday. Police said that they were investigating a report of a possible recovered stolen car in Oceanside where they discovered a 2011 Hyundai Sonata with traces of blood in the car.
They opened the trunk and found 32-year-old Daniel Scialom. Scialom died of an apparent gunshot wound; he had been reported missing since April 14. The car was not registered to Scialom, and no one in the neighborhood knew where the car was from: “I thought it was their in-laws who came up from Florida and we thought it was a rent-a-car and Tom, who lives there, was out of town on business and he came home and said where’s that car from?” resident Al Larsen told CBS. Authorities say the Sonata was reported stolen by its owner around the same time that Scialom was reported missing.
There is a Daniel James Scialom, also listed as 32-years-old, who was arrested in November on battery charges in Florida, but it's unclear if it is definitely the same person.
