Police were looking Tuesday for four people who allegedly attacked two teenage boys with a scalpel and stole their Nike sneakers as well as one of their cellphones at a Manhattan subway station, according to NYPD officials.

The incident, which occurred around 3 p.m. on Feb. 17 on the southbound platform of Inwood's Dyckman Street station on the 1 line, resulted in the boys being slashed on their heads and faces, and punched and kicked, police said.

The suspects took the 16-year-old boy’s cellphone and Nike Jordan sneakers and one of the 15-year-old boy’s Nike Jordan sneakers before fleeing the scene on foot, officials said. Both boys were taken to Columbia University Irving Medical Center in stable condition. Police said the victims did not appear to know the suspects.

The NYPD said it was still investigating the robbery but described one of the suspects as a roughly 16-year-old boy who was wearing a dark-green Canada Goose jacket with a hood, along with gray sweatpants and black sneakers. Officials said another of the suspects was a male who was wearing a black jacket with tan fur on the hood and blue jeans.

Robberies in the NYPD’s 34th Precinct, which includes Inwood and Washington Heights, were up nearly 25% so far this year through March 2, compared to the same period last year, police data shows. There were 42 reported robberies in the precinct, up from 34 in 2024.

Transit crime in the precinct was down more than 60%, with three incidents recorded through March 2, compared to eight over the same period the year before, the data shows.
