Police are investigating after two men were found stabbed to death in separate attacks in Manhattan early Monday morning, the NYPD said.
In the first incident, a 23-year–old man was stabbed multiple times in his back and side near West 49th Street and Seventh Avenue near Times Square around 1 a.m., police said. Medics rushed the man to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities identified him as Daevon Silva, a Rhode Island resident. No arrests have been made in his killing, according to the NYPD.
In the second incident, an 80-year-old man was fatally stabbed in an apartment on Overlook Terrace in Washington Heights, officials said. He was found in the apartment around 3:15 a.m. and was declared dead at the scene, police said.
The NYPD said the victim was Lev Vayner. Officers arrested 45-year-old Alon Riabichev, who officials said lived in the same building, later Monday morning in connection with Vayner's death.
Riabichev was charged him with murder and weapons possession. Attorney information for him was not immediately available.
