A 15-month-old boy is dead after police found him unconscious and unresponsive inside a Queens apartment next to his mother, who had slashed her wrists, the NYPD said Monday.
Officers responded to the home at 108-33 157th St. in Jamaica just after 1:30 p.m., officials said. They found the 28-year-old mother with wrist injuries and her child unresponsive, according to police.
Both were taken to Jamaica Hospital, where the baby was pronounced dead, authorities said. The mother was reported to be in stable condition.
Police have not released the identities of either the mother or the child. As of Monday afternoon, the baby’s cause of death had not been determined.
The NYPD is continuing to investigate.
