But, but, but! Where will West Village romantics go for date nights now? The neighborhood's much loved, super quaint, corner Mediterranean restaurant The Little Owl was shut down by the Department of Health last night. Maybe they should have called it The Little Mouse, instead? Wocka, wocka, wocka!

Though the restaurant aced their last inspection in October a DOH rep tells us that in its last inspection the restaurant racked up 44 violation points and "was closed due to a severe mice infestation." So we totally understand why owner Joey Campanaro tweeted that he's now "got a date with the doh."

Nobody answered the phones when we called, but a staffer told Grub Street that they probably won't reopen until next week and said they are "working on [the problem] actively right now." Fingers crossed. Who wanted a romantic Passover/Easter anyway?
