Following widespread media coverage of his scam charging tourists $30 for a hot dog, vendor Ahmed Mohammed has been fired from his job. Cart owner Abdelalim Abdelbaky took action against the rogue vendor after watching media reports from NBC New York that caught Mohammed in the act.
It seems that Mohammed was allegedly pocketing the extra cash he made by swindling tourists, unbeknownst to his boss. "He told me he charged the people $2 a hot dog," the cart owner's son Abdelalim Abdelbaky told the Post. "He lied to me." Not only that, but now the Abdelbaky family is responsible for paying the hefty city fines to the tune of $1,500 that were levied against the cart as a result of Mohammed's actions. "I lost money now, and I lost some customers, so I have a lot of losses."
