Wheat beer drinkers rejoice! In a big departure from its usually hops-heavy line-up, Sixpoint Brewery in Redhook has just introduced Apollo, a wheat ale, to its seasonal rotation.

The new brew is a collaboration between Sixpoint founder and president Shane Welch and Sixpoint Brewmaster and German-native Jan Matysiak, whose travels, tastings, and tourings around the Bavarian country-side inspired the duo to bring the flavors the country's weizens back to Brooklyn. Apollo is the first-ever summer installment for Sixpoint, with white packaging "to reflect the sun" and a namesake that alludes to a critical ingredient: ancient Bavarian white wheat ale yeast.

Here's the neat video that accompanied the beer's release: bask in the Bavarian sun that inspired the suds, learn about the fermentation process that gives the beer its "citrusy, banana, vanilla, clove" taste, and finally discover what was in Marcellus Wallace's briefcase.
