Someone has lost a leg in Morningside Heights! Well, a leg lamp. A reader sent in the above photo, saying, "I noticed the signs all around my Morningside Heights neighborhood. The bar SIP has lost its leg lamp (a la A Christmas Story)." We called to check in with the Amsterdam Avenue establishment, and were told the lamp went missing a month and a half ago, and they are offering a very generous reward of *$70 million dollars if it's returned unharmed.
While the person on the other end of the phone didn't seem to broken up about it, their Facebook page paints a different picture; there, they've simply written: "Please come home" under a photo of the lamp. Tragic.
*We detected a hint of sarcasm when we were told this, so if you have a lead you may want to hold off on buying that BB gun you've been wanting.
