The rumor mill is buzzing today with the news that legendary Midwood pizzeria Di Fara, recently recovered from a nasty run-in with the DOH, might be expanding to New Jersey. Could it be true?
Pizza blog Slice noticed a status update on Di Fara's Facebook page reading "[Di Fara Pizza] thinks the town of Red Bank, NJ, is a great place for some really special pizza...Coming Soon ;)." The comment ignited a firestorm of responses, prompting the restaurant to clarify: "Di Fara Pizza not going to say much more right now but NOOO, Dom is not retiring and Di Fara will continue to operate just as is...will keep you posted ..."
As others have pointed out, Di Fara patriarch Dom DeMarco is unlikely to give up his Brooklyn baby, but the pizzeria has grown twofold in recent years, with both Vegas and LaGuardia sister restaurants up and running. A possible New Jersey move, however, does raise the question: would the lines be short enough to warrant a cross-state lines trip, or are you better off camping out in Midwood instead?
