Nothing like a good old fashioned Health Department shaming of a college cafeteria to make you appreciate street meat. Like poor Fordham last year, Hunter College yesterday saw its 3rd Floor Cafeteria shut down by the Department of Health. And naturally the kids are just ecstatic about the news!
Once the closing hit the interwebs tweets like these popped up quickly:
Bought sushi for the first time today at Hunter. Cafeteria closes down same day due to health code violations.

The NYC Board of Health just closed down Hunter's cafeteria for "numerous health code violations." Nope. Never eating there again

So what exactly were the "numerous health code violations" that caused the cafeteria to be shut down? According to the DOH the problem was "vermin activity." The school is now working as quickly as it can to fix the problem and hopes to reopen the cafeteria shortly.
