Today marks the 3rd annual Macaron Day here in NYC, organized by macaron purveyor François Payard, and inspired by and coinciding with the Jour du Macaron in Paris. What does this mean for you, the casual macaron eater? It means you can get a free meringue-based confectionery if you ask nicely enough!
On Macaron Day, stop by any (or all!) participating shops to receive free samples of macarons, the famed French treats. Confirmed participants thus far include François’ own FC Chocolate Bar at The Plaza and FPB (West Houston Street location), Epicerie Boulud, Mille Feuille, Bisousciao, Bouchon Bakery Rockefeller, La Maison du Chocolat (3 locations in Manhattan) and Macaron Café (2 locations in Manhattan).
Check out the official site for a map of all participating locations—you are encouraged to stop by each one, or at least a dozen. We're told if you visit 12 of the 21 participating locations you'll receive a complimentary 6 piece assorted macaron box from François Payard Bakery (the participating shops will have colored stickers that you can add to your Macaron Card, to keep track). And remember what your compulsive dieting Aunt Sally always says, when they're free they don't have any calories.
