Who's ready for some haggis? That's right, Burns Night, that annual excuse to feast on sheep intestine filled with offal while sipping whisky in a kilt and celebrating Scotland's favorite son, Robert "Address to a Haggis" Burns, is back. Here are two spots in town where you can get yer haggis on tomorrow night:
Incognito Bistro: Because why not have Scottish fare at an Italian bistro? Apparently Glasgow has the third largest population of Italians in the UK! Anyway, this Chelsea spot is hosting a pretty standard Burns Supper fare. There is haggis with neeps and tatties (mashed swede and potatoes) as well as roast beef—but also Scottish salmon with asparagus risotto to keep it interesting. The whole supper runs $65 a pop. 30 West 18th Street // 212-414-1231
Mary Queen of Scots: What with the name, it is not really surprising that this LESer in the old Allen and Delancey space is doing a Burns Night, nor that they're doing it up proper. So, in addition to the fare (haggis with neeps and tatties, roasted cod, steak and ale pie) they'll have Burns poetry readings, a bagpiper and the traditional reading of "Address to a Haggis." There is only one seating though, at 7:30 p.m. Just the dinner costs $55, add the whisky pairing and it'll run you $90 a head. 115 Allen Street // 212-229-2670
