If Jon Stewart's rage is any indication, it'll be some time before Mayor de Blasio is let off the hook for using silverware to eat pizza last week in Staten Island. However, Goodfellas Pizza (the scene of the four-tined crime) has found a way begin the healing process and bring a divided city together again. According to DNAinfo, the fork used by de Blasio will be put up for auction, with the proceeds from the sale going to charity.
Foregoing what could have been yet another almost-reason to visit Staten Island, the pizzeria's owner Marc Cosentino, a retired NYPD officer, decided it would be best to auction off de Blasio's instrument of dining infamy, rather than keep it on display in its evidence bag. "I just did it because I thought it was funny," Cosentino told DNAinfo. "Then all of a sudden it got all this interest, so I thought let's do something, let's do something for charity." When and how the fork will go up for auction, and which charity will benefit from de Blasio's controversial pizza form, remains to be seen. But if there's any justice, the money will be donated directly to de Blasio to help keep him off the pole.
