In case you forgot for some reason, today is the Stoner Easter, the Puff The Magic Dragon Passover, the Mary Jane Administrative Professionals Day. And you don't have to live in Denver or be best buds with Snoop Dogg to be able to take advantage of the day—below you can find a few tantalizing food deals and events to sate your munchies.
As ever, East Village sandwich shop JoeDough is offering its Stoner's Delight sandwich for $4.20 all day long today—that would be the grilled cheese sandwich with cheddar, queso blanco, and cotija cheeses smushed between pieces of challah bread. Two Boots on Avenue A will be giving out FREE slices of "The Dude"—a cheeseburger pie loaded with tasso, andouille, ground beef, cheddar & Mozzarella—between 4:20 p.m. and 5:20 p.m. this afternoon.
If you're looking for something a bit hotter, Brooklyn's East River State Park is hosting the first annual New York City Hot Sauce Expo this weekend—you can try products from 36 of the country's best hot sauce companies, and admission is only $10.
If you're in the mood for a burger, Eater has been celebrating the best buns in NYC all week, and have some excellent recommendations (including the newly-opened Burger Joint location on West 8th Street in Greenwich Village). You can also check out one of our favorite diners in the city. And if you want something a bit more upscale, you can try newly-opened French grand cafe Lafayette, an all-day restaurant and bakery located in NoHo.
Or you can always revisit one of our old favorites. And if you get the chance, eat a lima bean—after all, today is also Lima Bean Respect Day, and that's certainly as real a thing as that other "holiday."
