Carmelo Anthony may have only been a Knick for a few days, but already he's making waves in the Big Apple gustatory circles. Before setting foot in the city, the Carnegie Deli named a (heart-stopping) sandwich after him, and now he's already had a private dinner at the Spotted Pig and Shake Shack has named a shake after him—the Car-Mallow Anthony Shake!
After his 27-point debut at Madison Square Garden, Anthony and some fellow teammates (like former Nugget Chauncey Billups) had dinner at West Village gastropub The Spotted Pig. Page Six says that dinner was hosted by Amare Stoudemire and a source tried to explain the intimacy, "It was a family gathering, like when a couple decided to get married and have no outsider," and another said, "They wanted to eat healthy food and drink water. The music was soft. There was a champagne toast, but most people had half-filled glasses and half of them didn't finish." Jay-Z, a Spotted Pig investor who is also an investor in the Knicks' rival, the [Something] Nets, was not there, but DJ Clue was!
As for Anthony's new place in Shake Shack-dom, the shake, a "powerhouse combination of caramel and marshmallow," is available through Sunday March 13. One Anthony fan tried out the concoction and told DNAinfo, "When I heard they had it, I was like, 'Sick!' ... It’s very good. It's an intense mix of flavors. And it's very smooth, like Carmelo." It's unclear when Anthony will try out Shake Shack, but remember, the popular burger chain couldn't tempt Lebron!
