With Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora having checked himself back into rehab, what's a Jon Bon Jovi to do with himself? He already opened up a homeless shelter for teens and young adults in Philadelphia last weekend. Could he somehow top that endeavor with an even more altruistic one this week? If you have to ask that, then you don't really know Chef John Francis Bongiovi, Jr.

For the past months, Bon Jovi has been focused on starting his own pay-what-you-can restaurant in Red Bank, New Jersey. And now, Soul Kitchen is set to open its doors, very appropriately, this July 4th. It's billed as a non-profit community restaurant, where diners are invited to pay what they can, or “pay forward,” by helping out. Helping out includes setting tables, serving customers, or preparing food in the kitchen, which is run by a crew of professionals and volunteers.

We got a sneak peek at the menu and some of the dishes, and boy do they sound scrumtrulescent: there's "You Give Teriyaki Chicken A Good Name," "7800 Degree Fahrenheit Chili," "Slippery When Combined With Wasabi," "Beef Jerky On A Prayer," "Have A Nice Cobb Salad On The Side," and "I'll Be There For The Cajun Special." And you get a free meal if your server forgets to ask if you "Want It Breaded Or Fried!"
