Zooey Deschanel got to work her quirky, indie "it girl" mojo on Saturday Night Live last night, batting her overly mascara'd eyelashes at the audience and strumming her ukelele. She was also the butt of the joke: SNL performer Abby Elliott played Deschanel in a sketch, "Being Quirky With Zooey Deschanel," with Deschanel playing Mary Kate Olsen (wrapped in a boho electric blanket; Michael Cera and Bjork were also part of the Quirky club).
She also participated in a black-and-white French dance sketch as well as one mocking the rapid fire dialogue of "His Girl Friday." However, there were some non-Deschanel highlights: Bill Hader spoofed Clint Eastwood's Super Bowl ad, Nasim Pedrad played M.I.A. in a Super Bowl halftime show followup and Nicolas Cage appeared as himself with Andy Samberg's Nicolas Cage during Weekend Update.
