After real life Sarah Palin endorsed Donald Trump this week with what the NY Times accurately described as a "mystifying" speech, we felt pretty confident we'd be seeing Tina Fey once again channeling Palin's "Reaganesque power that comes from strength, power through strength" on Saturday Night Live. Below, watch as Fey's Palin takes a break from her full-time career of writing things on Facebook to do just that, without even needing to construct a coherent sentence!
It's almost frightening how accurate Fey's impression is, from the shiny & spiky sequin fringe bolero endorsement jacket to the verbatim (and nonsensical) internal rhymes ("They stomp on our neck, and then they tell us, ‘Just chill, O.K., just relax.’ Well, look, we are mad, and we’ve been had. They need to get used to it").
You can compare/contrast Fey's performance with the real thing below. This was yet another reminder that Fey truly has a gift when it comes to inhabiting Palin's Mad Libs-gone-wild rhetorical aesthetic.
