Last night was Glee's season finale set in the Big Apple, and the show opened with shots of the city and "Rhapsody in Blue." The New Directions choir broke out in a mash-up of Madonna's "I Love New York" and "New York, New York" from the musical On The Town (yes, the Bronx is up and the Battery's down) as they danced in Times Square, Washington Square Park, Central Park and Lincoln Center. Oh, and Puck's New York dream is to: "Throw stuff from the Brooklyn Bridge." You can watch the entire episode here:
As the Gleeks already know, Rachel and Finn went on a perfect New York date (and met Patti Lupone), Rachel and Kurt had breakfast at (or outside of, rather) Tiffany's and then sang "For Good" from Wicked on the stage of the hit musical, Mr. Schue got ready for his Broadway show and had a showdown with rival choir coach Dustin Goolsby (played by the wonderful Cheyenne Jackson) and there was, naturally, drama at the Nationals.
We won't give out spoilers, but you can read 'em here at EW, Television Without Pity, Hitfix ("As per usual, the show pinballed through a series of potentially decent-to-great ideas, only to either abandon them, give them short shrift, or take a detour into WTF Land just to move on from the obstacles facing them") and Speakeasy. And as Goolsby said last night, "It's all over the Broadway blogosphere. And by 'Broadway blogosphere,' I mean the one blog that cares about Broadway."
The I Love NY Twitter folks were also live-Tweeting the episode, mostly with quotes from the show, including this one from Rachel Berry: "Being in NY it's like falling in LOVE over & over every minute."
