Bruce BROOOOOOCE Springsteen played Newark's Prudential Center last night to end the first leg of his 2012 world tour, and he went out on a particularly high note: at the start of the encore, Springsteen took a sign from a fan asking for something to be played in tribute to the recently deceased Levon Helm. He ended up playing a beautiful, never-before-played off-the-cuff rendition of "The Weight" accompanied by the E-Street Band. Watch it below:
Among the other highlights: tour debuts for "It's Hard To Be A Saint In The City" and the ultra-rare "Bishop Danced," which was played for the first time ever by the full band. You can see that one below.
There was a wonderful version of "Talk To Me" from The Promise as well as unbelievably fun encore performances of "Rosalita" (with tons of mugging from Springsteen and Stevie Van Zandt) and an extended "Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out" to end the night—you can see that below.
Springsteen will be back in town to play three nights at MetLife Stadium in NJ in September at the end of the tour. Tickets are officially sold out, but they're still available at secondary sources. And with the BOSS Act, they'll hopefully be easier than ever to get in the future.
