[UPDATE BELOW] The owner of Nitehawk Cinema purchased a 10,000-square-foot space in Bushwick last week, perhaps indicating plans to expand the popular food-and-a-movie concept beyond Williamsburg borders.
According to DNAinfo, owner Matthew Viragh paid $4.75 million for the building at 379 Suydam Street. The currently-vacant property is zoned for commercial use, though it's unclear exactly what Viragh has in mind.
We reached out to Viragh for comment, and will update this post when we have details about the boozy art house multiplex cinema with rooftop Slip N Slides presumably coming to Bushwick.
Update, July 29: A publicist for Nitehawk tells us that while Matthew Viragh is managing the Bushwick property, he intends to rent it out to a different tenant, meaning it will not in fact be a second Nitehawk location. A brewery is one possibility, but the publicist tells us nothing is certain. Stay tuned.
