For the first time in it's 25 year-long history, the Secret Policeman's Ball is coming across the pond from England to Radio City Music Hall this Sunday night. This will be the 11th edition of the event, which began in England in 1976, but is said to be inspired by George Harrison’s all-star rock music benefit, the Concert for Bangladesh, that took place five years earlier at Madison Square Garden. The event's proceeds will be given to Amnesty International, who are celebrating 50 years of supporting free speech.
This year's performers will include Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Kristen Wiig, Sarah Silverman, Fred Armisen, Eddie Izzard and Russell Brand, while music will be provided by Coldplay and Mumford and Sons. Sounds pretty epix, huh?
That's right, the only way to tune into this event (if you didn't purchase a spot in the venue) comes via EPIX. Those of you with Dish Network or Verizon Fios cable providers may have EPIX already, but for everyone else you will need to stream EPIX from your computer, Android, Roku box or Xbox 360. On the upside, they do provide users with a free two-week subscription to their service.
The event begins at 7 p.m., and according to the event's Facebook page, a shortened DVD may come out in the near future as well.
