Meteorologist Audrey Puente, who has not been seen for weeks on WCBS, is going to be going to WWOR to replace the suddenly fired Storm Field. Field, the veteran meteorologist and son of the legendary Dr. Frank Field, was abruptly let go after last Wednesday’s 10 p.m. newscast. The firing of Field is reminiscent of the firing Warner Wolf by WCBS in 2004 who also was let go without warning.
The Daily News reported that Field was working without a contract at WWOR.
On WCBS, Puente has been replaced mornings and at noon by the insipid John Elliot who makes Dave Price look like a serious competent forecaster. It looks like it is more of CBS 2 trying to cut costs by replacing veteran talent with younger and cheaper talent which they have done without much success in the past.
NBC Spikes Lee
Spike Lee will be directing a pilot for NBC called “M.O.N.Y.”, which is reportedly about a normal person becoming the mayor of New York. The show comes from the creative team of Tom Fontana and Barry Levinson who are responsible for the critically acclaimed 1990s police drama Homicide: Life on the Street and the HBO prison drama Oz. Given the track record of all three we can expect something good.
