CBS and NBC Boldly Go On Line With Classic TV
CBS has started streaming some of its back catalog of programs on its website, or to me more accurate the back catalog of programs the companies that now comprise CBS. The biggest highlight is that all three seasons of Star Trek in original form are available. Also offered are two seasons of The Twilight Zone, and the first seasons of Hawaii Five-O, MacGyver, and Melrose Place.
NBC-Universal has also started to stream some of its back catalog shows on the websites of its various networks. NBC offers a more extensive catalog with better video quality, but there's a somewhat clunky interface and ad placement. Plus some shows don’t have full seasons.
For both, the video quality is better than YouTube (if a bit jerky at times), but it's cheaper than buying the DVDs and easier to sneakily watch at work.
Local News Moves
WCBS anchor Chris Wragge who has been filling in on The Saturday Early Show for months, has now been tapped for the weekend gig. He won’t be leaving WCBS and will still be on evenings at 5 and 11 during the week. There are also rumors that weatherman Lonnie Quinn, who has also been pinch hitting on the weekend show may also follow Wragge.
Ti Hua Chang has left WCBS and will be starting at WWOR on March 3rd as a general assignment reporter. Given the station’s co-onwership with WNYW, we can expect him to also pop up on Fox 5.
