The Sundance Film Festival—which sets up shop annually in Park City, Utah—could be branching out to Brooklyn. According to the NY Post, the film fest's organizers are in early talks to create "a large-scale New York festival... discussing plans with top Brooklyn real estate developers—as well as film industry insiders, politicos and retailers—to launch a Sundance initiative that would take place in DUMBO."

As for what the Sundance Brooklyn will be, the possibilities currently range from a screening series to a full festival. A Sundance rep says they are "pleased to have a presence in the New York area."

In October, Mayor Bloomberg announced that a Made in New York Media Center would open in DUMBO, bringing advertising, film, and media to the neighborhood as early as this Spring. And Sundance Brooklyn is currently eyeing a location not far off from there, sources say the headquarters coud be "under the Brooklyn Bridge"—spaces over there include the Tobacco Warehouse and the Empire Stores warehouses.

UPDATE: Seems like Page Six's sources weren't very reliable. A spokesperson for Sundance Institute now says, "There is no truth to rumors of plans for Sundance Institute to host a film festival in Brooklyn in the immediate future. Our current programming includes events in many regions across the country and internationally, and we continue to seek new opportunities. For now, we are focused on the lead up to our 2013 Sundance Film Festival, which kicks off January 17."
