There's a chill in the air and the color of the leaves are starting to turn, which can only mean one thing: Saturday Night Live is back (I suppose it also means that the season cycle we follow based on the Gregorian calendar continues to work relatively smoothly). And now we know who will host the first episodes of the season, which kicks off in October: Owen Wilson, Kim Kardashian West, Rami Malek, and Jason Sudeikis, all of whom have never hosted SNL before.

The new season kicks off on October 2nd with Owen Wilson, making his hosting debut, with musical guest Kacey Musgraves, who is making her second appearance on the show. Wilson, who recently starred in Disney+'s Loki and will also be in Wes Anderson's next film The French Dispatch, has only ever appeared on the show once before, as his Zoolander character Hansel alongside Ben Stiller on Weekend Update in 2016.

Then on October 9th, Kim Kardashian West makes her SNL debut with musical guest Halsey. It was rumored last month that she might host the season premiere. While she's never been on the show before, she has been parodied several times, played most famously by Nasim Pedrad. This will be Halsey's fourth time performing on the show.

Rami Malek will make his hosting debut on October 16th with musical guest Young Thug, also making his SNL debut (although technically he has appeared on the show guesting on other people's songs, including Megan Thee Stallion last season). Malek stars in the long-delayed new James Bond film, No Time To Die; star Daniel Craig previously hosted SNL in March 2020, just before the movie was originally supposed to be released.

And finally on October 23rd, longtime cast member Jason Sudeikis will return to host for the first time with musical guest Brandi Carlile also making her debut. Sudeikis, whose beloved show Ted Lasso just won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Comedy Series, was an SNL cast member from 2005-2013, and has made sporadic appearances since.

Despite some indications at the end of last season that SNL heavyweights Cecily Strong, Aidy Bryant, Kate McKinnon and Kenan Thompson might be considering leaving the show—same with Pete Davidson—there is no information yet from NBC about whether any cast members have in fact exited (or whether there are any new cast members). Typically, those casting announcements are made more than a week before the new season kicks off, so for now it seems likely everyone is staying put as Lorne Michaels reportedly wants.
