Week in Rock: Summer Love Edition

PATTERN IS MOVEMENT PLAYED UNION HALL
The bearded duo from Philly, Pattern is Movement, have been on a long tour with current indie rock android goddess St. Vincent. She may have been the headliner, somehow charming everyone from David Byrne to Ted Leo, but we haven't yet fallen under her spell. So far, it all sounds exactly like what this airbrushed A.I.-esque album cover looks like. Boring. So luckily for us, as the tour came to an end Pattern is Movement and St. Vincent split up in Brooklyn for a night. The latter playing at Bell House and the former at Union Hall (where even Zach Condon of Beirut showed up). The band played an energetic set that included a slew of new songs, Beyonce and d'Angelo covers, and some 'ol favorites like Jenny Ono. The only downside came once the music ended, when sadly we were informed they were fresh out of their double-amazing bearderific tote bags, so let's hope they return soon with some more.

THE "POOL" IS OPENING SOON
Yesterday amNewYork recommended readers head to McCarren Pool for their summer concert series, but woops, that venue closed after last year for a makeover. So let's take a look at what's really going on with the Pool Parties this summer. The free Sunday shows are keeping their name despite no longer having a pool, and moving over to the Williamsburg Waterfront. No official lineup announcement has been made yet, but BrooklynVegan posted a list earlier this month that is fairly accurate.

Sunday, July 12 - Mission of Burma, Fucked Up & Ponytail

Sunday, July 19 - Magnolia Electric Co. AND Dirty Projectors and White Denim

Sunday, July 26 - Health & Grupo Fantasma

Sunday, Aug 02 - Dan Deacon, No Age & Deerhunter

Sunday, Aug 09 - Simian Mobile Disco DJ set & Fiery Furnaces & Dark Meat & Finger on the Pulse

Sunday, Aug 16 - Del the Funky Homosapien??? & ????

Sunday, Aug 23 - Girl Talk, Max Tundra and Wiz Khalifa

Sunday, Aug 30 - Grizzly Bear and Beach House

With Dirty Projectors, Grizzly Bear, Beach House, Deerhunter... dare we say this is the best summer lineup yet?

LIVE FROM GREEN-WOOD CEMETARY
Pitchfork has announced a new series that we're totally down, like 6-feet-under down, with. They tell us the new original performance series, Cemetary Gates, "takes place in the Historic Chapel of the Green-Wood Cemetary in Brooklyn. The chapel, which dates back to 1911, will play host to several installments of the intimate performance series in the upcoming months." The debut episode features, who else, St. Vincent, and can be seen on their site as of this week. Upcoming performances will include Andrew Bird, Ra Ra Riot, Grizzly Bear, and Camera Obscura. So how do we get invited?
