Photos, Video: Jane's Carousel OPEN In Brooklyn Bridge Park

Looking at the Carousel, you can see the Brooklyn Bridge in the background.

Looking north: the Carousel sits on a large stone plaza.

Lots of new benches are scattered around the park; they appear to be made of the same recycled wood from the Cold Storage Warehouse as the other benches further south in the park.

A large monument in honor of Jane Walentas.

The horses are all meticulously preserved. Check out the glass eyes.

There are two chariots for those too large or small or fit on the horses.

Some rules: No gum or balloons. No riding side-saddle. No riders larger that 225 lbs allowed on the moving horses.

Another view of the horses.

The glass is slightly warped to give a fun distortion of the view. Check out the way it bends the light on the left.

The enclosure has a trippy ceiling.

A view of the newly restored lawn north of the carousel.
