Irvine Welsh, the acclaimed author of Trainspotting, will be visiting Book Court bookstore on February 9th to discuss his newest novel, The Sex Lives of Siamese Twins with fellow best-selling author Ben Greenman. A tale about the dark, twisted underbelly of Miami Beach, the book follows a Florida fitness trainer who—after heroically preventing a crime—descends into madness when she realizes the two men she saved are actually serial pedophiles. The event will include a reading, audience Q&A and a book signing. (Joanna Purpich)

Monday, February 9th, 7 p.m. // BookCourt, 163 Court Street, Brooklyn // Free

Trade in your swipe for a spit because this edition of Tinder Live (Lane Moore's wildly popular comedy roast of Tinder profiles) brings the ladies from Netflix's critically-acclaimed Orange Is The New Black to the Knitting Factory for a night of bad dates, smh singledom and awkward encounters. So swing by for the Wednesday late show to join the likes of Yoga Jones (Connie Shulman), Sister Jane Ingalls (Beth Fowler), Blanca Flores (Laura Gomez) and Anita Demarco (Lin Tucci), because if there's anyone who knows about the benefits of solitary confinement, it's them.

Wednesday, February 11th, 10 p.m. // Knitting Factory, 361 Metropolitan Avenue, Brooklyn // Tickets $10

Ever feel like you'e being watched? Justify your paranoia at the IFC Center's special screening of the Edward Snowden documentary Citizenfour. And this Thursday, the spy-turned-whistlerblower himself will introduce the Oscar-nominated film via live video feed from his hideout in Russia. Director Laura Poitras, journalist/Snowden-ally Glenn Greenwald, and the ACLU's Ben Wizner will also give introductions and participate in a post-film discussion. Tickets for the special screening are already sold out, however, overflow tickets for an additional screening of Thursday night's event in an adjacent theater are still available. (Maud Rozee)

Thursday, February 12th, 6 p.m. // IFC Center, 323 Sixth Avenue, Manhattan // General Admission $25, Members $22

Finally, a Valentine Day's celebration as bitter and barren as my own love life. Central Park's 4th Annual Ice Festival is coming back for Hallmark's Big Day with ice-carvers from Okamoto Studio who will create a replica of the park's Romeo and Juliet statue. The cute doesn't stop there though, as there will also be a 1980s-themed silent disco on a fairy light-strewn Mall to close out the evening, which is bound to be way more magical than another night of wine n' Netflix.

Saturday, February 14th, 3 p.m. // Naumburg Bandshell, Central Park between 66th and 72nd Streets // Free

It's extra pleasure and double the punks at Brooklyn Night Bazaar's Valentine's Day Weekend celebration this Friday and Saturday. Kick off the weekend with the rip-rollicking Titus Andronicus and White Reaper, all while sipping on special "love potion" cocktails and enjoying food, art and more from the likes of Momofuku and Snax Magazine. And even if Titus et al. is not titillating enough for you, then at least there's always Saturday, which features Futurebirds and Steve Gunn on the bill. Just be sure to come early for the free vibrators and gift bags, which will be given to the first 100 guests both nights.

Friday, February 13th & Saturday, February 14th, 7 p.m. // Brooklyn Night Bazaar, 165 Banker Street, Brooklyn // Free
