According to the latest fall foliage map, most of New York state is already past peak as we enter November, but here in New York City we're in a sweet spot — the mid-point, and soon to be experiencing peak foliage. Get ready for some anthocyanin highs before the big chill sets in for the winter.
You won't need to travel far from your front door to take in the vibrant colors — there are around 5.2 million trees in New York City, and almost 200 tree species. Not all of them will deliver on the autumnal magic you're looking for, so if you want the full immersive experience, you'll want to head to the closest park — the photos above were taken about a week ago in Prospect Park, which should be looking even more colorful this weekend.
The fall foliage map as of October 31st, 2020.
