For the eighth straight year, the Bushwig Festival returned to the Knockdown Center in Queens for two days of next-level sparkling style and visionary glamour this past weekend. The annual celebration of "drag, music, and love" featured more than 200 performers, culminating in 21-year-old Bronx resident Serena Tea being crowned the winner of Bushwig 2019.

Photographer Sai Mokhtari was on hand to capture the action: "I believe this is the most underrated festival in New York," she said. "It’s a celebration of over-the-top creativity, bravado, inclusivity and fierceness drenched in good vibes. A space where people can explore and express their identities and alter egos. It is beautiful and grotesque. It is seriously silly. It’s everything I love about this city."
