The Metropolitan Museum isn't exactly known as a bastion for coolness, but gosh darnit if the revered institution isn't trying to change all that—they've gone and hired a new curator to spiff up their contemporary art collection. Does this mean naked people won't get arrested in there anymore?

New hire Sheena Wagstaff was poached from the Tate Modern in London. She'll be handling art of the 20th and 21st centuries for the Met's new space, the Marcel Breuer building at Madison and 75th that used to belong to the Whitney Museum (the Whitney is moving to the Meatpacking District). The Met plans to use the Breuer building as a showcase for Modern and contemporary art while it renovates its existing Modern and contemporary art galleries.

“This won’t be the only hire,” Met director Thomas Campbell said. “If we build up the right team, we will have the potential to grow our collections thoroughly and embrace European and non-Western art.” Class field trips may never be same!
