All five boroughs will be getting concerts with stacked lineups during New York City's "Homecoming Week," with the centerpiece show being held on Central Park's Great Lawn. The celebrations—meant to mark the return of NYC over one year into the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic—will take place August 14th through 22nd. While all shows are outdoors and vaccines are required to attend, it's unclear if the new delta variant concerns will change anything else.

This week, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced lineups for all the shows. Outside of the Central Park event, the theme for the shows will be “It’s Time for Hip Hop in NYC," with hip-hop, Latin freestyle, dance, freestyle, techno, and funk artists dominating the lineups. Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. said, "The Birthplace of Hip Hop will set the tone for the upcoming concerts around New York City."

Rocky Bucano of the Universal Hip Hop Museum (UHHM) helped produce the shows and noted this week many of the artists they booked "are native New Yorkers hailing from the five boroughs. It’s their talent, creativity, and passion for the culture that spread it from the stoops, parks, and playgrounds to stages worldwide."
