After Gwyneth Paltrow retaliated in a British Elle magazine interview, saying: "Fuck the haters!", NYMag dared to guess why the public absolutely abhors the actress, coming up with twelve reasons. In the Elle interview (for their March issue) she says: "I saw this blog of people writing horrible things about me and for a second your ego is so wounded...How could people hate me, my intentions or what I'm trying to do?" Well now the NY Post is taking a stab at the question, and it turns out everything that is loathed about her is represented at her new website: GOOP, which E! Online's Ted Casablanca sees as clashing with her true personality, saying,"She is not an accessible person, and trying to market herself as such makes no sense." So where is the real Gwyneth? Maybe some past quotes will shine some light on her.

  • "I am who I am. I can't pretend to be somebody who makes $25,000 a year."
  • (Regarding the English response to the 7/7 terrorist attacks) "There were no multiple memorials, with people sobbing as they would have been in America."
  • (She smoked when pregnant) "The last cigarette I smoked was the day I found out I was pregnant with Apple. I had to sit down and smoke one final cigarette."
  • (She hates America) "I love the English lifestyle, it’s not as capitalistic as America. People don’t talk about work and money, they talk about interesting things at dinner. I like living here because I don’t fit into the bad side of American psychology."
  • (On Shallow Hal?) "I just do things I think will be interesting and that have integrity. I hate those tacky, pointless, big, fluffy, unimportant movies.”

C'mon you tacky, sobbing Americans, where's the love?
