Whether it's limited edition MetroCards, tribute shows, or subway signs, memorials to the one-and-only David Bowie have continued without fail in his adopted home of New York City since his death in 2016. Bowie would have turned 75 on January 8th, 2022, and his estate is launching Bowie 75, a year-long celebration which will include the openings of two curated pop-up shops, including one right here in the city.
The pop-up is located at 150 Wooster Street, very close to his former home on Lafayette Street. It'll be open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. starting October 29th—75 days before his birthday—and will run through late January. (The other pop-up is happening in London at 14 Heddon Street, where Bowie shot the cover for The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars.)
The estate says that the pop-up will provide "a unique and immersive career-spanning deep dive" into Bowie's back catalogue and history, including: immersive audio and HD video screening rooms in partnership with 360 Reality Audio; hours of video content including previously unseen behind-the-scenes material and rare footage from the Heathen and Reality eras (the last two times he toured); opportunities to purchase limited edition Bowie LPs, apparel and more; various photographs of Bowie; and more. Special guests are expected to be announced in the coming weeks as well.
You can check the Bowie75 website for more information on the pop-up as well as other Bowie events planned for the coming year.

Bowie died almost five years ago, on January 10th, 2016, at his home at 285 Lafayette Street, just two days after his 69th birthday and the release of his final masterpiece, Blackstar. His former apartment was apparently sold for over $16 million earlier this year.
You can check out our list ranking every Bowie album here. (IMPORTANT NOTE: now that the dust has settled and a few years have passed, Blackstar should now be considered among his six or seven greatest albums.)
