We never held out much hope for a Coachella East, and while many festivals can boast a stellar, eclectic bill, they're not in the desert. If you refused to shell out airfare and the mildly outrageous $269 weekend pass this year, you're in luck: according to its website, Coachella is going to be set over two weekends in 2012, April 13-15 and April 20-22. That's right, "that means same lineup, same art, same place, different people," and double the money for Coachella and its parent company, AEG Live.
It only took the festival one week to sell out this year, and while one could argue that it was the "star power" of artists like Arcade Fire, Kanye West, and The Strokes, we blame the unquenchable thirst for all things festival. If your parents' monthly check sometimes takes a while to roll in, Coachella is also offering a "payment plan" of "10% down and 8 equal monthly payments" during the presale only, which begins this Friday and runs for a week. The only thing that's missing is a lineup, but OMG THIS WILL SELL OUT so who has time to think about pesky things like "who's playing?"
We'll probably wait it out until Coachella 2013: Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of the year.
